The shoot of Sun Pictures, Rajinikanth big budget sci-fi thriller Endhiran’s shoot has resumed in Chennai. The shoot is happening around Perungudi dumping yard in Chennai.

A source said: “It is mostly patchwork of some combination scenes between Rajini and Danny Denzongappa, who plays the villain in the film…” As of now it will be a five day shoot.

Says Shankar: “Some have doubts whether the movie is coming this year. Yes, definitely the film is releasing this year, within few months”.

The latest buzz rounds Kollywood is superstar Rajinikanth’s nude appearancee for his Sun Pictures magnum opus, Shankar directed Endhiran-The Boss!

It seems the scene was shot in secret manner in Sun Network’s Studio in the outskirts of Chennai by director Shankar and cinematographer Ratnavel. The scene would be used in the film at a crucial point in the narration.

The scene is said to be very similar to Arnold Schwarzenegger the robot moving around naked in Terminator.

It is the very first time that Superstar Rajini is doing a full Monty in his film.

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth and his co stars like Kamal Hassan have attended the premier of Jaggubhai yesterday at Satyam cine complex.

Never before has so many stars been seen at a premiere in Kollywood, showing the popularity of the ‘supreme star’ among his colleagues in the industry.

Take a look at those who attended the biggest ever star turnout for a premiere. Among the male actors there was Superstar Rajinikanth, Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Arjun, Prabhu, Dhanush, Vadivel, Lawrence, Silambarasan, Sibiraj, Gautham Menon, Dharani, director Vikraman,Prasanna,Vivek, Pasupathi, Parthipan, Srikanth, Vijayakumar, Krish, Arun Vijay, Mirchi Shiva and others.

The ladies who came for the premiere were Trisha, Simran, Sangeetha, Sandhya, Sonia, Sanghvi, Andrea, Aiswarya Dhanush, Sangeeta Vijay and Varalaxmi.

However the stars of the evening were Sarath Kumar, director KS Ravikumar, producer Radhika, heroine Shriya and the rest of the cast and crew of the film.

Rajinikanth has inaugurated a hotel named The Spring in Nungambakkam a day before his birthday.

The place is very familiar to the superstars fans.. and yes… it was the same old Arunachala Inn, now renovated as the Spring maintained by Vasantha Bavan.

After launched the hotel, Rajini says, “When I wanted to come to Chennai to enter the film industry, my father’s instructions to me was simple. He asked me to invest in land first, so that it’ll help me get a steady income…”

Rajini, who marveled at the interiors of the hotel comparing them to a movie set.

Nostalgically, he reminisced, “After I bought this land, I had to work extra hard and so plunged myself into movies. I did more than 20 films in various languages that year to ensure that I repaid my debt!”

Lyricist Vairamuthu, in typical Rajini style, said, “You might have heard about three star and five star hotels. But, this is a Superstar hotel!”

An electrifying dance performance had the celebrities present clapping and cheering. Among those present at the event were directors Shankar and Susi Ganesan.

Thalaivar’s birthday is a very special day for all his fans, even they are residing in overseas!

Though our Superstar usually plans to spend his birthday quietly, his admirers plan festivities in India and abroad. Especially his fan clubs will celebrate the day by distributing sweets, performing special prayers at temples and undertaking various humanitarian activities.

And this year’s big day is less than a month away.

Sources close to the star say that he will be spending his birthday on sets of Shankar’s ‘Endhiran’. That too not in Chennai! When all expected Rajini to be here this year, it’s heard that he will be in Pune for his sci-fi project.

Last year too Rajini was engaged in what he likes the most on his birthday- acting!

Rajinikanth was in Hyderabad to take part in the shooting of his animation movie ‘Sultan: The Warrior’, being directed by his daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth.

Rajinikanth @ Andhra Flood Relief Star Night

South Indian Superstar Rajinikanth participated in the never ever mega star night organised by the Telugu cinema industry for collecting relief fund to help the victims of the flood.

The star extends his hearty support to the Andhra people at any time any where.

Almost all the leading stars of Telugu industry have attended the event.

Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Nagarjuna, Balakrishna, Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Allu Arjun, Prabhu Deva and Ramcharan Tej, and heroines Genelia, Hansika, Anushka, and Ileana, were among those who were present. Apart from the music directors presenting their songs, there were also skits and performances.

Chief secretary P Ramakanth Reddy was also present.

The organisers expected to raise at least Rs 3.5 crore through the show, in addition to the donations made by the film fraternity.

As we reported earlier, the climax portions of Superstar Rajini starrer science-fiction magnum opus ‘Endhiran – The Robot’ are being shot in various locations in and around Chennai for the last one month.

The crew headed by Rajinikanth is now shooting a last but a mega fire scene for the film on a huge set put up at Prasad Studios.

The huge set, a scientist’s laboratory going up in flames is the scene being shot, and may appear for less than four minutes in the film.

Hollywood visual effects companies which have been roped in are closely monitoring the fire scene, so that they can insert the graphics in the right frame when the film comes onto the editing table.

This is being done for the first time in Indian cinema , a practice started by George Lucas in Hollywood many years back.

Rajinikanth is hardly required for the shot but he sits through patiently the whole day, and watches the proceedings, as usual, which shows his passion for the profession.

Nadigar Sangam has been conducting a week long drama festival, which concluded with Vetri, Vetri, Vetri on Sunday (Aug 23).

The drama featured Nadigar Sangam chief Sarath Kumar and Secretary Radha Ravi.

Superstar Rajinikanth was the chief guest at the concluding day of the function and also distributed mementoes to yesteryear actresses M N Rajyam and Anjali Devi.

Rajinikanth went nostalgic in his speech and said; “Theatre will never die. I started my career on stage and have done over 25 plays in Bangalore. When my friends saw my performance on stage, they encouraged me to act in Tamil films which made me come to Chennai and join the Film Institute”.

Rajini also made a suggestion to Sarath, “The Nadigar Sangam has got 18 grounds in the heart of Chennai here in T.Nagar. We should utilize the vacant space inside its premises by constructing a state-of-the-art auditorium. And we can always ask Kalaignar (chief minister Karunanidhi) for help if required”

Superstar Rajini and Kamal commended actor Y.Gee.Mahendra and his UAA troupe on the occasion of the 100th show of its play ‘Swadeshi Aiyar’ here on Friday.

Lauding Mahendra for conveying a valuable message in an entertaining manner, actor Rajinikanth recalled the late seventies and early eighties when they worked together in several films.

“My friend Mahendra was the only comedian then. But, despite the demand for him in films, he was passionate about theatre,” he said.

Observing that it was a very interesting time for Tamil theatre, he said: “Even our guru KB sir [K.Balachander] has recently staged a play. It is a great feeling, because that is where we belong,” he added.

Actor Kamal Haasan also said that “everybody was in a mood for theatre.”

On the play, which is on a contemporary family being transported to 1945 through a time machine, he said all actors performed remarkably well.

Thuglak editor ‘Cho’ S. Ramaswamy lauded Mahendra for his dedication to theatre. Director Balumahendra said that after watching the play, he was tempted to go back in time, particularly on seeing Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Gowthami and Mahendra, with whom he had earlier worked .

N.Murali, Managing Director, The Hindu, said that Mahendra’s father Y.G.Parthasarathy had revolutionised Tamil theatre and explored a new genre with good humour and caste-less subjects. “Mrs.YGP’s work in the field of education and fine arts is legendary.”

He commended Mahendra for his “magnum opus Swadeshi Aiyar”.

The play has been scripted by ‘Chitralaya’ Sriram, and directed by Mahendra, who plays the lead role.

Seeing the three superstars of the South film world in a same place is definitely a rare and unforgettable occasion to any movie lover.

Recently the Andhra fans have the luck to watch their favourite stars at one spot, that is Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad.

Superstar Rajinikanth, Kalaignani Kamal Hassan and Malayalam Leading Star Mohanlal are shooting for their respective films at this City for the couple days.

Rajinikanth is doing some important action scenes for his magnum opus Endhiran directed by Shankar, while Kamal and Mohanlal are shooting for their Unnai Pol Oruvan, a remake of ‘A Wednesday’.

Both the films are being shot in adjoining floors and there is great camaraderie between the three superstars.

There is also a lot of curiosity, as everybody is eager to see our own superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Robot’ look, while the Red camera being used for Kamal’s film has become a tourist attraction!

Rajini will be staying there till this week end and return Chennai by Saturday.
