World Cup adds more worries to Kollywood BO

Kollywood producers are a worried lot. The ICC World Cup 2011 matches have started from Saturday and producers are already pressing the panic buttons.

Jeeva’s Singam Puli which was scheduled to release on February 25 has been postponed to March 4 .

The reason given is the next Sunday will have India clashing with England and the previous day there is a crucial Pakistan versus Sri Lanka match.

So a film releasing on February 25 will find it difficult to get an opening. But for Kollywood it has to be business as usual as there are nearly 60 small and medium films ready for release in the next two months.

March will not see any big releases though the trade is abuzz that AGS Entertainment may release their Prabhu Deva directed Jayam Ravi-Hansika musical love story Engeyum Kathal on March 25.

This will enable AGS to release their Bala’s Arya-Vishal comedy entertainer Avan Ivan by end of April. Sun Pictures are planning to release their Dhanush- Hansika starrer Maapillai on April 8, just after World Cup finals on April 2.
