Tamil actor-turned-politician Vijaykanth is now set to turn director with a film that is said to have many political twists and punch lines exclusively for his fans cum party cadres.

To be titled Vridhagiri after the presiding deity of a Tamil Nadu temple located in Vriddhachalam town, the movie will see the star act as well, sources close to the actor told.

Vijaykanth was elected legislator from Vriddhachalam constituency in 2006 in his debut contest.

The PRO of the film Singaravelu says that the star would play an honest cop in his directorial debut and would mouth dialogues full of political innuendos.

Vijaykanth hopes to negate these through the new film, his publicists said.

However, the lead lady and cast for other key roles are yet to be finalised. A. Venkatesh, the director known for his commercial success will be assists Vijaykanth in directing the film.
